| Christian Teachers' Day Celebration 2009 |

Date: 20 June 2009 Venue: St Paul's Church P.J. The Malayan Christian Schools' Council in collaboration with the Catholic Teachers' Association, The Teachers' Christian Fellowship and Scripture Union had organised a special Christian Teachers' Day Celebration in Petaling Jaya recently. The theme of the Celebration was "Staying the Course". This event was organised with the aim of inspiring the commitment of Christian Teachers in Malaysia. Miss Seah Jiak Choo the former Director-General of Education in the Ministry of Education was the special guest speaker for the event. Miss Seah has had a distinguished career in the Education Service spanning 32 years. She holds a BSc (Hons) Mathematics (University of Singapore), Dip in Education (University of Singapore), Dip in Theology (Melbourne College of Divinity), Dip in Computer Science, NUS and MA Education (University of Michigan). She joined the Education Service as a teacher in 1977. She taught in Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College, and was Principal of Tanjong Katong Secondary School from 1990-1993. She also held various appointments in MOE, in curriculum planning, testing and assessment, and school supervision. She rose to become the Director of Schools in 2002 and was appointed as Director-General of Education on 1 Apr 2004. She has been awarded Public Administration Medals (Bronze and Silver) in recognition of her contributions. Speaking at the event, Miss Seah indeed inspired the Christian Teachers' in her message.
